Change Your Voice : Change Your Life : A Quick, Simple Plan for Finding & Using Your Natural Dynamic Voice

Make your voicemail professional

Possibly hundreds of people will listen to your outgoing voicemail message every week. Are you inadvertently turning them off? Suppose someone is calling you about a job ?

Every person who calls your number and gets your recorded message will form a lasting impression about you. It's amazing the number of voicemail nessages that sound unprofessional.

This is because many people don’t take the time to review their outgoing message before they save it. The worst offenders are the stutters and um stumbles.

1. Your outgoing message should be flawless. If you say um, uh, or stammer over a word, re-record it!

2. Is there anything more off-putting than low energy ? A flat, monotone voice that sounds as if the person just can't be bothered or has just woken up.

3. Then there's those garbled, rushed messages that are just about impossible to understand.

4. Long, drawn out recitations.

Keep your outgoing message short and to the point. Make sure your outgoing message sounds great.

1. Script it. Include only the essentials and eliminate any unnecessary information, such as what to do at the sound of the tone.

2. Stand. Standing while recording your outgoing message adds energy and enthusiasm to your voice.

3. Smile. A smile on your face puts a smile on your voice and makes you sound friendly

4. Slow down. So that we understand you, speak slightly more slowly than normal, but not so slowly that you put a caller to sleep

And finally, visualise. Imagine you're looking a friend in the eyes when recording your outgoing message. You’ll sound warm and inviting. Have several friends or colleagues listen to your outgoing message and give you their honest feedback. Then, re-record it until they give you the “thumbs up.”

Change Your Voice : Change Your Life : A Quick, Simple Plan for Finding & Using Your Natural Dynamic Voice is a simple, and easy to comprehend way to get you on the right track to a healthy speaking voice. The method is extremely simple, and will take you little more than an hour or so. The two main exercises are what Cooper calls the "umhmmm" method and the "Instant Vocal Press". Simple and self-explanatory.
