Acting Tips. Your Resume

Your Resume

  1. Put your name on the top of the paper, either centre or left.
  2. Add your height and your hair and eye colour.
  3. Put contact information but not your address.
  4. Don't list your jobs chronologically. List the work you have done and where you have studied.
  5. List your credits first : give the name of the play, your role and who produced it. Usually the order is theatre-credits, film-credits, television-credits. If you do commercials state only whether you have been an on-camera and/or voice-over performer and whether you have a commercial reel or tape. Don't list the products.
  6. Your training should be the next category - where you studied, with whom and for how long.
  7. List your special skills next - language you speak, dialects, musical instruments, expert on anything, etc . The information should fit neatly on one side of one page.

Your Photo

  1. You introduce yourself with a photo. The picture must look like you!
  2. Lack of pretension is important. Your attitude should be open and friendly, and your eyes should be looking out out from the picture. One very good photo is all you really need.
  3. Photos should be black and white. Unless you're a redhead.
  4. The semi-matte finish is usually preferable.
  5. Have your name and telephone number printed on the front.
  6. When you submit a headshot and resume, include a cover letter and written on your computer and printed on good quality paper. It doesn't have to be very expensive, just attractive and professional.
